On Saturday, April 22, 2017, 7 PM, I'll be reading with writers Elizabeth Jarrett Andrew, Heid Erdrich, Ka Vang, and Kathryn Kysar at Magers and Quinn Booksellers, 3038 Hennepin Avenue South, Minneapolis 55408, to celebrate the paperback edition of the Minnesota Historical Society Press anthology Riding Shotgun: Women Write About Their Mothers.
When editor and friend Kathryn Kysar invited me to submit to this anthology almost ten years ago now, I had no idea what an important experience writing my essay for this collection would be. It helped me grow as a writer and discover a new perspective on my relationship with my mom. It also helped me reflect on what kind of mother I wanted to be.
I'm excited to read alongside four writers I admire, whose work has long inspired and enlightened me. Come celebrate with us on April 22!
